ANNUAL DAY 2009
Rudyard Kipling’s classic ‘The Jungle Book’s beautifully written, emotional story of the experiences of a human child Mowgli came alive at the 3rd Annual Day celebrations of Arya Gurukul Nandivli, Kalyan (E).
As part of the Annual Day cum prize distribution ceremony, the students of Arya Gurukul presented an adapted version of Jungle Book on 11th April ’09 at Savitribai Phule Natyagruh, M.I.D.C, and Dombivli. (E)
A mega event that included dances, action, commentators and singers lit up the stage with their charged performances. Each actor donning an animal character captured the nuances of the roles he/ she portrayed. The ‘Jungle’ came alive with the near perfect settings, brilliantly created props and masterly makeup. A visual treat, the play depicted the story of the experiences of a human child Mowgli adopted and raised by wolves in an Indian jungle. . Set in the magical world of animals the chief character Mowgli learns the ‘bare necessities of life’ and the true meaning of friendship. The Jungle animals take care of themselves governed by serene and inarguably wise order of nature that is any day superior to the human order. The play subtly depicts social cooperation where everybody has a role to play. A whole community of animals adopting one young boy highlights the fact that animals do indeed have wisdom to impart .Respect for one another, respect for the land and above all acceptance of fate are some truths we as humans could believe in. Supported by enchanting live singing by the mellifluous singers, the whole act escalated up to unparalleled heights.
